Extensive reports in Taiwan of a novel coronavirus from Wuhan, China began early in January. As my parents are physicians and Taiwan was significantly affected by the 2003-2004 SARS outbreak, they started watching such TV program regularly then to keep abreast of the situation. So, my sister and I started watch some of them as well.

2-2020: COVID-19
I watched a TV news discussion from Taiwan, discussing asymptomatic coronavirus individuals spreading the infection, probably one month before it becomes a hot topic in the US. Here, I am watching the YouTube video at 150% speed to save time.

3-2020: COVID-19
After COVID-19 started to spread beyond China, we watched an early YouTube video, in Chinese, of Taiwan’s medical front line workers making face shields for themselves due to PPE shortage. Outside of mainland China, Taiwan was one of the first places to get affected by the pandemic. So we decided to make our own for our physician parents and other health care providers. So far, we’ve donated over 300 of them to local medical practices and hospitals.
